Divergent, by Veronica Roth, takes place in future Chicago. In this dystopian, there are five factions.
Dauntless-the brave
Candor-the honest
Erudite-the intelligent
Abnegation-the selfless
Amity-the peaceful
Once you turn sixteen, you take a test that determines which faction you would be best in. Although, the test is only a suggestion, so you can choose whatever you want. Once you choose, you need to pass initiation, or you will either die, or become factionless.
When Beatrice Prior takes the test, her results end up inconclusive. AKA, divergent.
The person giving her the test hides it up best she can, making her safe...for now. She was told specifically not to tell anyone, even after they chose which faction they wanted.
Beatrice chooses her faction, and has to go through a hard initiation. Will she make it through, or will she become factionless? Will anyone find out about her true test results and try to get rid of her?
Find out in this amazing book of plot twists and romance. Betrayal, and attacks.
RECCOMENDATION: For teens, but a good read for adults too. It has some romance, but not overpowering, so boys would enjoy it as well.
Overall, I give it five stars, (*) (*) (*) (*) (*)
